York Rally Newsletter: 29th April 2016

We have a lots to report in this newsletter, so without further ado let's crack on!
- Go-Ride are coming to the Rally! Coaches from British Cycling's youth programme, Go-Ride, will be at the Rally on Saturday and Sunday to offer free skills training and mini races to under 16s. This is brilliant news and will be a real boost to children's activities at the 2016 Rally. More details at http://yorkrally.org/go-ride/
- We had an excellent meeting in April and the process of converting to a charity is well underway. The next stage is submitting forms to the Charity Commission.
- York Rally clothing is now available! We have sourced a new range of clothing with the Rally logo from suppliers Gildan and Relay in a range of colours. T-shorts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and fleeces are all on offer. Place your order by the 30th May and you will be able to pick it up at the Rally! - Volunteers can order clothing at cost price and we also now have an online registration form for volunteers, so you can let us know when you'll be available and what tasks you prefer. For all the details, see: http://yorkrally.org/volunteer-information/
- We are organising a free first aid course for volunteers and this will take place in the afternoon after our next meeting, on the 21st May in York. If you would like to attend please just let us know by emailing volunteers@yorkrally.org or mention it when you fill out the online form at http://yorkrally.org/volunteer-information/
- Photo competition winners have been announced! After some considerable delay we've decided on the winners of the photo competition which we launched at the 2015 Rally. Huge thanks to all who entered - over 500 images were submitted and these have been invaluable in creating the website and promoting the Rally. - We have a new poster! The latest version of our York Rally flyer/poster now features a family-friendly tandem and trailerbike image, rather than just a male racer as on the previous version - some welcome feedback via Facebook suggested this may have been off-putting to less competition-minded potential Rally-goers! Please do print it off and help spread the word - or just share on Facebook and Twitter! Find it on: http://yorkrally.org/downloads
- Our next meeting will be on the 21st May 2016, at 10AM in the upstairs room at Cycle Heaven, Hospital Fields Road, York. As with all of our meetings, all are welcome.

- Don't forget the Coxwold Cyclists Service! As we mentioned in the last newsletter, it's another traditional Yorkshire event organised purely by volunteer cyclists, and it's coming up fast on Sunday 8th May 2016.
