York Rally Newsletter: 25th May 2016

Dear fellow cyclists,

Many thanks for joining this mailing list about the York Rally!  If you're receiving this in error, apologies and there's an unsubscribe link at the end of this email.

With under a month to go until the 2016 Rally, there are some deadlines approaching, and more progress to report! We've just had our latest meeting and now there's just one more on-site committee gathering before the event itself...

- DEADLINE: Advance campsite bookings close 11th June! It's cheaper than on the day, quicker to get in, and you can be sited with friends or club-mates. Book  at: http://yorkrally.org/visitor-information/campsite-bookings/

- DEADLINE: Clothing orders for pickup at the Rally need to be in by the 30th May!  If you fancy a T-shirt, polo shirt, sweatshirt, hoody or fleece, and woudl rather save the postage by picking it up at the Rally, order now online at: http://yorkrally.org/york-rally-merchandise/ 

- DEADLINE: The show programme will be off to print in early June! So we need to firm up all of our rides and activities.

For the rides - would anyone like to plan and lead a recumbent-specific touring ride? Or a vintage cycle excursion of some sort? If you could step up and do it, please contact our Rides Co-ordinator Gary on rides@yorkrally.org. He'll need a route plan, a basic risk assessment and will work with you so that start times and refreshment stops don't clash with other rides. - Real ale enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that the on-site bar this year comes from a real craft brewery in Wales: Cwrw Ial Community Brewing Company. Read more at: http://www.cwrwial.com/

- We're firming up the exhibitor list at the trade show, and it's already at least as big as it was last year! Do feel free to (politely) pester your favourite suppliers to book in, if they're not already on the list: http://yorkrally.org/trade-show/

- 2016 badges have arrived and will be on sale at the Rally. If you can't make it to the event then you can order online here: http://yorkrally.org/york-rally-merchandise/

- Cyclo-cross is back for 2016 on the Sunday morning - watch out for spectacular racing for all ages in the Eleconline Summer Series from the Yorkshire Cyclo-cross Association!

- Our free first aid course for volunteers was really good, with an excellent instructor from St John Ambulance. We'll advertise it further ahead next year and hope that more can make it - it would be excellent for ride leaders as well as on-site volunteers. Sign up as above so you're on the volunteer mailing list for next year...

- And behind the scenes we've been doing lots of paperwork for the council, more paperwork for the CIO conversion, promoting the Rally all over, sorting out catering, contractors, security, showers, recycling, signage and more - and agonising over site plans. We can't wait for it to all come together in June!
