Dear Camper,

Thank you for your 2022 York Rally campsite booking and for your support for the re-launched York Rally. This is some final details for a smooth arrival.

On arrival

By bike, just come in through the entrance at the Racecourse end of Knavesmire Road.

If coming by car/motorhome/caravan, please come to the entrance half way along Knavesmire Road (opposite the junction with Knavesmire Crescent). Satnav to YO23 1EX - although that sometimes takes you the the Racecourse buildings. What you need is the big gates on Knavesmire Road: see it on Google Streetview. There’s plenty of room to swing in even with a big caravan. You’ll then be marshalled until you can move onto the site – please just follow directions.

When you arrive on site you will need to stop at or near the check-in tent (the small tent on the right and side of the road just after you've crossed over the horse racing track as you come in. to check in and receive details of your allocated pitch.
  • If you arrive before 4 pm, please park up in the main car park and do not attempt to drive across the horse racing track onto the main site. But you can go on foot or by bike to the check-in tent, which will be open for pre-booked campers from 3 pm. We cannot allow vehicles on site before 4PM: the volunteer set-up team needs the time to fully prepare the site and make it safe.
  • If you arrive after 4 pm please just join the queue to go straight on, stopping at the check-in tent
General notes
  • Campers arriving on the Friday should note that there will be food and real ale available on Friday evening from our caterers on site – and do please support the on-site vendors, as a percentage of the takings goes to help support the Rally.
  • You might also like to take part in our new Quiz on Friday evening in the bar from 7:30 - there's a more easy-going format this year.
  • You will see some notes in the show programme about a threatened closure to the Solar System cycle path, NCN 656 going south from York. Please ignore this: we have now had it confirmed that the path will definitely be open for the Rally weekend. But please take extra care on the section between Bishopthorpe and Naburn as heavy machinery may still be operating doing finishing work.
  • Knavesmire Road (the tree-lined avenue leading to the Rally entrance) will be closed between 1 and 2 pm on Saturday for the York Pride parade to pass - they're also running on another part of the Knavesmire this weekend.

Please also note:
  1. The camping fee covers Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The site must be vacated by 10am Monday morning.
  2. The site speed limit for ALL vehicles is 5 mph. This includes cyclists! The Knavesmire is still open to the public, and pedestrians and/or dogs could be anywhere on site.
  3. No vehicles will be permitted in the lightweight camping area. Anyone wishing to camp in this area with a vehicle must park it in the main car park near the main entrance.
Saddlebag Sale – donations of items welcome!

Donations of selleable items are welcome! – please bring your spare kit and help raise funds for the Rally. We’ll have a table set aside in the Saddlebag Sale cycle jumble for donated cycling gear, which will be sold to raise funds for the Rally. All parts and accessories, good condition clothing and even complete bikes are very welcome. Please bring your donations to Rally HQ before 10AM on Sunday morning. If you’d like to donate a complete bike, please bring it to HQ before 10AM on Saturday, so that we can enter it into the auction.

All funds raised will go to supporting the Rally, and any items left unsold will be donated to local cycling organisations or disposed of.
