Volunteer information

Online registration for volunteers is now available  – see below!

A huge thanks to all of our 2016 volunteers – you made the event happen! We hope you – and new volunteers – will be back in 2017!

The Rally is an all-volunteer organised event, and we rely on the kindness of a small army of volunteers to help out. Jobs range from sitting behind a desk to marshalling traffic, from leading rides to shifting tables for the Saddlebag Sale or Auction. You’re welcome to say if there are jobs you’d rather not do – or something you’d particularly like to be involved with.

This year there are not many ‘perks’ for volunteering as we try to raise the considerable sums needed to stage the revived Rally. Along with everyone on the Rally Committee, volunteers are asked to book campsite pitches via the standard procedure if staying on site.

We are however having York Rally clothing produced at cost price for volunteers (including committee members), and in colours not available to the public (red for all volunteers, purple for committee – but neither are compulsory, order whichever colours you like). A password-protected ordering page is now up and running (please contact our volunteer co-ordinator Jude Ainsworth for the password if you haven’t received it by email already). High vis tabards, protective clothing etc. will of course be provided by the Rally for any volunteer whose task requires it.

If you’d like to help, please just fill out the online form below. There’s also a paper version which you can print out and return by post here (coming soon). Otherwise, please just email Jude on: volunteers@yorkrally.org! Thank you!

Please tick as many of the boxes above as apply - you won't be expected to take slots in all of them, it's just so we know when you're available. Typically volunteers will be asked to sign up for one hour slots, must wear an identity tag while volunteering, and you may have to wear a high viz jacket if your task requires it.

Now please let us know what you would be happy doing:

Thank you so much for offering to volunteer! It is hugely appreciated by the whole team and, we're sure, all of the York Rally visitors. You may also be interested in leading a ride or joining the organising committee - if so, please just leave a message below.
