Guided Rides Programme for 2026 now available to view!

Friday 12th June
18:00 The ever-popular Fish and Chip shop rides.
One to Hutton Cranswick,  led by Jools and Sally from the Driffield Four Seasons Breezers; the other to Nafferton and led by Festival stalwarts Peter Huxford and Ken Groom from York Greenways. Both rides will return after dusk, and so lights on your bike are essential.

Saturday 13th. June
08:45  DA 1 – Gary Knighton from the Festival’s Organising Committee will be leading a 28 mile, through rolling countryside ride to Skipsea, stopping at Mr Moo’s for ice cream.

09:00  DA 3 – Barry Raynor, with buddies from the Dronfield Clarion CC, will be leading this challenging 47 mile road ride to Pocklington. Barry says that some parts are hilly, and so it’s not suitable for inexperienced riders. Refreshments in Pocklington.

09:15 DA 5 – Dave Hall from Seacroft Wheelers CC is leading this 30 miles long gravel ride to Wetwang. Dave says that there is a lot of off-road riding and so it’s best suited to heavy duty tourers, gravel and mtb. Best to bring a snack, as refreshment stops are thin on the ground.

09:30 DA 2 – Steve Woolcock and friends from the York Wednesday Wheelers are leading out along the route of the Gypsey Race, taking in a few notable prehistoric monuments on this themed ride. A must for history and geography buffs! 44 miles. Refreshments at Sledmere House.

09:45 DA 4 – Another fabulous themed ride! This one visits viewpoints form which renowned artist David Hockney painted some of his greatest works. Led by Dave Bean from the York Wednesday Wheelers. 49 miles. Refreshments at Seaways Café,  Fridaythorpe.

10:00  DA 1 – Attention women and girls! Jools Turner from the Driffield Four Seasons Breezers is leading this ride to the fantastic Field House Coffee Barn. Registration is via the “Let’s Ride” website. Helmets are mandatory for U 16s. 24 miles. Sorry, women and girls only!

10:15 DA 3 – A day out at Burton Agnes Hall! Peter Huxford and Ken Groom, from York Greenways, are leading this gently-paced 22 mile ride. The café is within the Hall grounds, and entry costs £12. Alternatively, there will be maps available for those who would prefer to have a self-guide return to Driffield.

10:30 DA 5 – Especially for beginners and families, Janet Harland from Bygone Bikes is leading this short, gently paced 5 mile ride around Driffield.

10:45 – DA 2 – For those with an eye for architecture and history, John Harland is leading a 28 mile themed ride, looking at historic churches in the area around Driffield. You will need to bring something to eat, as there are no cafes en route.

11:00 – DA4 – for those who feel that steel is real, love a frame made of 531 or Columbus tubing and relish a speedy ride on a vintage racing bike, Andy Cuming from Knaresborough CC is leading out this year’s ever-popular Retro Ride (the speedier one!) 30 miles at c 13mph. Refreshments at Field House Coffee Barn, Tibthorpe.

09:00 DA 3 – Off-road ride to Thixendale. Join George Nutt, of the Rough Stuff Fellowship, for this 43 mile ride to Thixendale and Fridaythorpe. George says that there is a lot of off-road riding and so it’s unsuitable for road bikes. Refreshments at Seaways Cafe, Fridaythorpe.

09:15 DA5 – Chris Goode of The East Coast Clarion and the Tricycle Association, is leading this 32 mile ride to Sledmere House. This is aimed at riders of tricycles, but others are welcome.

09:30 DA 2 – The Martyn Atkins Tribute Ride. A challenging 63 miler, to Seaways Café at Fridaythorpe. Martyn was a much-loved member of the York Wednesday Wheelers, who died suddenly whilst cycling last year. He was a long-time supporter of the York Rally, and also Sustrans (now known as the Walk, Wheel and Cycle Trust) His friends, led by Murray Banks Walsh, are holding this ride, a favourite of Martyn’s) in his memory. We hope that participants will make a donation to the WWCT. Collection box in the Info Hub.
